Avoid This Hotel – Disappointing and Unsafe Experience

We chose this hotel based on the lovely-looking garden/pool area and decent rooms, hoping for a relaxing stay in the greener north of Tenerife. I travelled with my 14-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter, but sadly, our experience was far from enjoyable.
While some staff were friendly—especially the cleaning staff and a younger, respectful lifeguard—the overall atmosphere was spoiled by an older, unprofessional lifeguard. From day one, he approached us (and every guest) aggressively about not reserving sunbeds, finger-pointing and using a rude tone. He also enforced bizarre and inconsistent pool rules: no floats, no balls, no music, no jumping in—leaving kids with very little to enjoy. His behavior was overbearing and, at times, inappropriate, including a concerning incident involving a young child and another where a guest’s complaint was brushed off by management.
The pool was poorly maintained—slimy tiles, missing sections, and visible black sludge. A floating light with exposed wires in the baby pool was only addressed after guests pointed it out. There’s a pool bar, but “snacks” meant crisps only, and once it closed, there were no other food/drink options on-site.
The hotel lacks air conditioning completely. Hiring a fan costs around €30, so I brought one from home. Balcony railings felt unsafe, doors slam loudly at all hours, and you're not allowed to hang towels to dry. Although the property is quite large, the majority of units seem to be owned/rented by locals, so only a small number of actual tourists use the shared areas.
This hotel feels more like a tired hostel than a 3-star resort. It’s not family-friendly, poorly managed, and lacks basic comforts and safety. We ended up leaving the hotel most days just to avoid the unpleasant pool area. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

When checking in, we found this mini gift in the toilet, it was unpleasant to take it out manually, the rooms are old, need repair, small bugs crawl everywhere, the staff is normal, no complaints. The territory: in the photo it may seem big to you, but it is not, it is very small, and opens at a certain time, closes the same. There is only one pool on the territory. The territory is insanely small, there were only 7 people, and there was no place to put a sun lounger.

We had a very good family stay. The hotel is clean and well maintained. The teams are attentive and very pleasant. I highly recommend it.

Just got back from a day 10 day holiday at tiede mar . I'll start with the pros ...
They give you fresh towels daily except on Wednesday & Sundays.
They mop the floor same as above ^^.
Cons....
Damaged rooms all of them and we used 3 rooms. Bathrooms grubby they do clean but not the grout or around the taps .
Dirtiest swimming i seen in a long time .
Missing tiles every where . Filtration does not work as there scum collecting in corners dont know how people where swimming in it yuk.
No entertainment not once in summer holidays , bar never opened up once and the one pool table is 2 hours wait your turn to get on it.
Most the rooms up forsale in estate agents alot of the rooms are now occupied/sold so its more of a retirement home now now a holiday destination.
If they just modernised the hotel and add some life to it this would be a good spot they spend more time cleaning the dirty old carpet on the stairs instead of fixing broken bits. Disappointed nothing like the pictures and we upgraded to what they call junior suits.
Peurto de la cruz is a beautiful place with plenty to offer i advise you to look else where.

Nice size and clean rooms.
Pool in need of some major tlc and freezing.
Breakfast was excellent value. 10 per adults and we got kid free one day and 5 euro the other day. Huge selection and tasty .
Staff are super friendly and helpful.
15 min walk to main town. Massive hill coming back up!

We spent Christmas at Teide Mar, and we are very satisfied. All the hotel staff are very kind and friendly, and always willing to help. Highlight clean and tidy facilities. A very quiet environment as well as the area in which it is located.

The location is perfect for anyone visiting Tenerife, it's not in the centre of Puerto De La Cruz.
The walk into town is pleasant, as are the views on the way 'Down'! The walk back is interesting 😀🤣😂
If after your first walk back to the hotel! You don't want to walk back! There is public transport i.e. Buses or taxis.

Just back from a 1 week stay, the hotel is lovely. Very friendly cleaning staff, pool area very clean and pool staff very friendly! No complaints about the hotel except the fact there is no bar from 6pm when the pool shuts down but the location has nothing around it. There is maybe 2/3 pubs all close at 12 at night and the restaurants are the same, not a great choice for food as everything is pasta and pizza. You can go down to the town it’s roughly a 10 minute walk downhill but again it’s 2/3 bars that are also restaurants that close around 11/12 pm and you need to get a taxi back as it’s all uphill but taxis cost roughly €4/€5. Would not recommend for anyone under 50 as there is zero entertainment in the area.

We have just returned from a stay at this hotel and we are delighted with it.
The staff is very welcoming and helpful, the cleaning is well done very regularly.
Even if there is no air conditioning, the general temperature of the island does not really require it and it is airy, we never felt hot in the middle of August.
The swimming pool is great in terms of temperature, in the middle of a garden with a lawn and lots of trees so shade and there are always deckchairs available.
The hotel is located 15 minutes walk from the seaside of Puerto Cruz, there is a bus stop just nearby which allows access to all cultural activities and visits very easily if you are not motorized and most are to the north (also possible to rent a car through the hotel).
The hotel is secured by a permanent guard and the reception is open 24 hours a day.
Thank you all for this pleasant stay! I hope to have the opportunity to come back.

The staff is very friendly, they keep the rooms and garden very clean, the beds are comfortable and the apartments are very complete. The bathtubs are tall and old so it would be good to put showers in their place for older people or people with reduced mobility. There is no noise that bothers you in the rooms. There are tobacconists, a supermarket and Mercadona nearby, but there is a lack of services in the establishment. It would be nice to have at least a vending machine with coffee, water and hot milk. The pool is very neglected and abandoned, many parts of the floor are missing and there are areas with very abundant mold.

On the whole we enjoyed our stay here. The rooms were a good size and cleaned most days, and most of the staff were lovely. No fight for a sun bed. We had nice views from our balcony but the outside noise early in the morning was unbearable. No air conditioning and expensive to rent a fan.
Cockroaches were a huge problem in our room, coming out of the headboard of the bed and crawling on my face in the night. I asked reception for a spray and was told by the manager that it was our fault because there were suitcases and toys on the floor and a piece of chocolate left out. Despite explaining that my son is autistic so moving his toys causes huge issues, and that the cockroaches seemed to only be in one place, the manager continued to not accept any responsibility (despite other reviews suggesting this is clearly a common issue). This resulted in me becoming extremely emotional because she just would not listen and her then issuing me a warning! She then told cleaners not to enter my room for the rest of our stay resulting in a build up of rubbish and no clean linen. Thankfully the weekend staff were very sympathetic and got my room cleaned. Holiday rep did organise a change of room for the last couple of nights but honestly I think it would have been the same problem there so I ended up paying €10 for a spray at the supermarket which did really help around the bed. That was all I wanted to start with!
The other main problem was the Spanish residents who own rooms at the hotel. So rude and intimidating. We didn’t even bother with the pool by the end of our stay because we didn’t feel safe. They splash kids in the face and swear at them as well as blocking the steps into the pool. Total bullies and ruined it for everyone else. Police had to be called at one point!
Would not return to this hotel purely based on the negative experiences and how they were dealt with.

I can not express my upset with this hotel.. 2 weeks and I just wanted to cut my holiday short and come home.. My God, the hotel is great, apart from the pool is in need abit of an uplift as mosaic tiles are missing and lose in and around the pool.. My main upset was the bunch of Spanish residents who reside or use as a holiday home.. Totally disrespect the English and make you feel totally unwelcome.. to the point I had two blows with them and one actually swearing at my 9 year old.. the police was called to talk to me and tell me to be reassured that I'm to call or they will be called to step in.. should the matter escalate.. They sit on the entrance stairs to the pool either trying to stop or make you going in or leaving would make you feel by their looks and their tone of Spanish they want to cause friction, The kids where horrified, not only to see what was going on.. but other holiday makers where totally shocked.. they all ganged up together having their little rant.. in their language.. I wouldn't say to avoid the hotel, just beaware of this incident.. I would rather go to the south where you have respect from the locals. Other than this, The hotel is ok.. fantastic cleaners, reception staff helpful.. ATM on site, with a service charge.. Breakfast for non half board residents, 10 euros for adults and 5 euros for children, Tennis is 8 euros for 1hr. Also.. if your worried about Cockroaches, they are present in the hallway, and some of the rooms.. Reception are happy to help, move you too another room so they can spray the rooms..

We recently stayed 14 days at Coral Teide Mar. The hotel is old but well maintained and clean. On our first day we had a leak in the bathroom but it was quickly fixed. The hotel is quiet with nice views and it’s within walking distance of bars, restaurants and supermarkets. The staff are all friendly and helpful. We loved the location and if we return to Tenerife we will be staying at this hotel for sure. Thank you for your service:)

Hotel was very clean in and out staff constantly keeping it to a high standard , a couple we were staying with had an issue with their toilet and it was fixed the same day. Lovely location close to anything you need even a bar just outside. Staff were friendly and helpful would 100% recommend.

The hotel is old, but well maintained. The rooms are clean, big and simple. Awesome big garden and large pool with enough space for all the guests. It is far from the city center and you need to climb up the hill on the way back. The surroundings are very pretty and I think this apartment is definitely worth looking at if you need budget and decent accommodation
